smudger Posted March 13, 2013 Report Posted March 13, 2013 ok i followed the topic here to the T it sort of works the drivers door will not lock or unlock, all other doors do hazards flash and light on drivers door comes on, but i can lock and unlock with a key, any ideas could this be a faulty part in drivers door??? Does the lock on the other door work correctly with the key? I've known the lock motor to fail in this way on other vehicles and it will unlock from the key as you don't need the motor for that door but fails from the other door. If it fails from the passenger side i'd say that the lock motor is dead. Without further info hard to say for sure but could be a broken wire in the door gaiter as another possibility. Quote

How about if your sat inside the car and press the door handle on each of the front doors - do both sides lock like that or does it only work one way? Quote

BrianH Posted March 14, 2013 Report Posted March 14, 2013 Not sure then if anything that does the opposite of what I'd expect. It could be the dreaded broken wire issue in the gaiter or a broken door lock can't see its down to you having not spliced into the right wires as you get the others locking. Can only see you as having two options either take the door card off and try another lock unit or check the gaiter for any broken wires. I think the door catch/lock is the more likely one to go with. If the locking still works when you have the kit installed then it points towards a broken part inside the catch, I'd get another catch/lock from the scrapyard and see if its any different (you may be able to tell by just plugging it into the loom and operating the lock manually with a screwdriver to close it. a18nkd Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 hi smudger the same thing happened to me when i fitted my universal remote central locking kit i checked every thing it was all ok exept the drivers door locking, untill the drivers side window (electric) stopped i re-newed all the wiring in the drivers side gaitor and window works and so does the drivers side, before i would turn the key in the door it would lock/unlock the drivers side only but went around the passenger side and it would do all the locking/unlocking exept the drivers side Quote
smudger Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Posted March 18, 2013 a18nkd drivers door does at it is suppose to with key also when im inside and lock it locks, ive just fitted the exact same kit the same way on a seat Alhambra, im thinking it may well be an issue with the drivers solenoid as when I press lock everything locks bar drivers door led comes on hazards flash,, but the drivers door u can hear it for a few seconds sounds like the motor trying to engage for about 5 secs but nothing. Think I will borrow the fathers door solenoid thus will rule out my idea or confirm as I know his works Quote
